Lauren & Andy’s
Save the Date

Photographer Ginny Cummings took some gorgeous shots as part of an engagement shoot for clients Lauren & Andy, and Lauren wanted to use some of the black & white ones in the Save the Date design.

Along with a more decorative typeface to bring some romance to the design (Lamar Pen for the words “save the date” on side 1), we opted to use the typefaces that are on their wedding website for side 2: Gilda Display for their names, Cormorant Infant (bold, bold italic, and medium) for the rest of the information listed.

Ginny’s original photo of the couple on side 1 (with the text “save the date”) was horizontal, and in order for it to fit the couple with room for text, I used generative fill on Photoshop to fill in the city skyline in the background, which I knew I was going to fade out behind the text. I made sure that the couple is sharp against the fading backdrop.

I originally had put black text against this faded city skyline background, but it felt too harsh with the extreme contrast. The white adds more romance, more of a soft bridal feel.

I recommended that they print them with Paper Culture because I knew we could upload my original design, I’ve used them before and been impressed with the printing and paper quality & their commitment to the environment, and I suggested that they be printed with the rounded edges, as you can see below.
